Commercial Sheep Each year we mate about one third of our Dorset ewes to Purebred Finnsheep rams to produce Finn-Dorset cross rams and ewes. By the time we bought our own farm in '98, the flock had grown through attrition to almost thirty ewes. The Poynter Dorset flock was established in 1970 with major purchases from the Ross, Roach, LaRosh, Worthington and Harlan Wagner families. These highly maternal sheep add lambing percentage, milk production and mothering ability to commercial ewe flocks.
